Adjusting for Market Conditions

High Volatility (VIX elevated)

  • Turn on Size > 500 and the Premium > $100K or > $250K toggle to reduce noise
  • Raise the Flow Score minimum if the feed is crowded
  • Set DTE max to 0-2 for day trading

Low Volatility (VIX low)

  • Relax the size and premium toggles to catch more flow
  • Keep a Premium min in place to focus on conviction
  • Slightly longer DTE ranges (7-14) can work for swing plays
  • Trending: Favor single-direction sentiment (Bullish or Bearish), or use the Directional preset
  • Range-Bound: Consider both directions or no sentiment filter; flow may be more hedged

Time of Day

  • Pre-market / Open: DTE max 0-2 for morning momentum
  • Midday: Same filters; watch the Repeaters preset for clusters
  • Afternoon: Tighten filters; avoid new 0DTE entries after 2 PM

Option Flow Alert Tiers

Option Flow alerts come in three tiers - Golden, Aggressive, and Unusual - managed from the alert preferences page in the app. Each tier is configurable with:

  • Minimum premium ($)
  • Flow type - Sweep, Block, or Trade
  • Execution side - at/above ask, at/below bid, or midpoint
  • Volume > Open Interest toggle
  • Max DTE (0 = no cap)

Tune the tiers so each one means something to you - for example, keep Golden strict (high premium, sweeps at ask, Volume > OI) so a Golden alert is always worth a look.

Tips for Fine-Tuning

  1. Start strict, then relax: Begin with the premium and size toggles on. If you see too few rows, loosen one dimension at a time.
  2. Lean on presets: Directional and Repeaters do the heavy lifting - layer filters on top rather than building from scratch.
  3. Track what works: Note which preset and filter combinations produced your best trades.
  4. Update weekly: Market regime changes; revisit filters at least weekly.
